How do you freeze rows or columns in Excel?

You can freeze rows or columns in Excel to keep them visible while scrolling. Here’s how :

To Freeze the Top Row :
  1. Open your Excel workbook.
  2. Click on the View tab in the ribbon.
  3. Select Freeze Panes.
  4. Click Freeze Top Row.
    • This keeps the first row visible as you scroll down.
To Freeze the First Column :
  1. Click on the View tab.
  2. Select Freeze Panes.
  3. Click Freeze First Column.
    • This keeps the first column visible as you scroll right.
To Freeze Multiple Rows or Columns :
  1. Select the cell below the row(s) and to the right of the column(s) you want to freeze.
  2. Click on the View tab.
  3. Select Freeze Panes.
  4. Click Freeze Panes (the first option).
    • Everything above and to the left of your selected cell will stay visible.
To Unfreeze Panes :
  1. Go to the View tab.
  2. Click Freeze Panes.
  3. Select Unfreeze Panes.
