Every year, August 20 is observed as the Akshay Urja Diwas to raise awareness for the development and efficient use of renewable energy in India. The day also commemorates the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

* The significant objective behind this day is to focus on the younger generation studying in schools and colleges to understand the concept of using renewable energy.
