This year(2022) Guru Ravidas Jayanti is observed on February 16, 2022, across the country. It is the 645th birth anniversary of the saint Ravidas. India is home to saints and poets. Ravidas is one of the greatest poets and spiritual figures and social reformers of that time. He was known for his belief in one God and unbiased religious poems. He invested his whole life in the abolition of the caste system and openly despised the notion of the caste system.

History and Significance : Guru Ravidas was a saint-poet in the popular Bhakti movement. He was born in the 14th century in the holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
 
It falls on Magh Purnima, a full moon day in the month of Magha. So the followers observe this day with great importance.
 
He was the first saint who used poetry and spiritual teachings to spread equality and challenge the Indian caste system.
 
He himself found the Ravidassia religion and was a disciple of Sant Kabir, who marked his contribution with 40 devotional poems and songs by Guru Granth Sahib.
 
He was also popular as Mira Bai's spiritual guide.
