Sivamani Paramesh on Tuesday (15th Oct 2024) took over as the 26th director general of the Coast Guard, a day after his appointment by the Narendra Modi-led central government.
Paramesh was given the additional charge of Director General Coast Guard in August 2024, after the death of his predecessor, Rakesh Pal, due to cardiac arrest.
According to the Defence Ministry, during his period, many significant operations and exercises were accomplished, including the seizure of drugs or narcotic substances and gold worth crores of rupees, rescue of mariners during severe cyclonic storms, joint exercises with the foreign coast guards, anti-poaching operations, humanitarian assistance during cyclones and naturals calamities and coastal security exercises..
