Correct Answer :   Qatar

The India Meteorological Department said on Monday (21 October 2024) that the low-pressure system over the East-central Bay of Bengal would likely intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Wednesday (23rd OCT 2024), and is expected to cross into north Odisha and West Bengal on Thursday (24th Oct 2024) night. Once it intensifies, the cyclone will be named “Dana”.

In a post on X, the IMD wrote that the low-pressure system would likely develop into a depression by Tuesday (24th Oct 2024) morning and a cyclonic storm by Wednesday (23rd OCT 2024), travelling northwest to approach the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal the next morning.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Puri and Sagar Island on Thursday night and Friday (25th Oct 2024) morning, with wind speeds up to 120kmph.

Cyclone Dana will be the second to develop in the North Indian Ocean in less than two months, after Cyclone Asna in the Arabian Sea in late August.

Cyclone Dana was named by Qatar according to the tropical cyclone naming system devised by the World Meteorological Organization.
