African Swine Fever (ASF) cases have been detected in a government breeding farm in Tripura. The farm is located in Devipur, Sepahijala district and is run by the state's Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD). A total of 63 mature pigs had died on the farm due to unknown reasons which raised an alarm. The state government has ordered the mass execution of pigs to curb the spread of the viral fever.

Pakistan Prime Minister "Shebaz Sharif-led's" new Pakistan cabinet took oath in a ceremony held on April 19, 2022. The new cabinet was sworn in almost a week after Pakistan's Parliament elected PM Shehbaz Sharif to replace Imran Khan, who lost the no-confidence vote on April 11. Popular Odia singer and music director "Prafulla Kar" passed away following breathing difficulties here on Sunday(17th April 2022).
 
He was 83 and is survived by wife and two sons. Kar’s songs enriched more than 70 Odia films over six decades.
 
Born on February 16, 1939 in Puri, Kar had early exposure to the world of music. His elder brother Khetramohan Kar was an accomplished tabla player and hence musicians and singers used to come to his home frequently. From childhood, he was attracted to music and singing.
 
After completing his education from SCS College, Puri, and Utkal University, he started learning from legendary musicians and gurus such as Markendiya Mohapatra, K. Aditya Narayan and J.V. S. Rao.
 
At the age of 21, he received contract for singing in Akashvani. Kar created his own aura in the field of music and playback singing. and his songs have become immortal among Odia music followers. For six decades, the prominent singer enthralled generations of Odias.
 
He started his career as a singer in 1962 with Odia film Shri Shri Patita Pabana. In 1975, he became a music composer in the film Mamata which turned out to be an instant hit. Some of the movies which would forever carry the legacy of his melodious music are Batighara, Shesha Shrabana, Sindura Bindu, Bandhu Mahanti, Balidaan and Ram Balaram.
 
He received the State film award for a record six times. In 2015, he was conferred with Padma Shri award in the field of art..

The Border Roads Organisation(BRO) will construct the world's highest tunnel at Shinku La Pass at 16,580 feet to connect Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh, BRO Director General Lieutenant General Rajeev Chaudhary said here on Saturday(16th April 2022).
 
* He stated this while opening the strategically important Himachal to Zanskar Road at Shinku La Pass from where over half a dozen vehicles crossed the Shinku La Pass from Zanskar side towards Manali.
 
* Lieutenant General Rajeev Chaudhary told that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will start the construction of the tunnel connecting Himachal Pradesh to Zanskar Valley in Ladakh by July this year.
 
* He said the Centre has already made 'Project Yojak' of BRO to execute this ambitious project.
 
* This tunnel, to be completed by 2025, will change the economy of Zanskar Valley, the official added.
 
* At present, one has to travel 101 kms from Manali to Darcha on Leh road and thereafter, take a turn from Darcha towards Shinku La Pass and enter Zanskar valley.
 
* The south portal of the tunnel will be at Shinku La and the north portal at Lakhang, he added.
 
* The D-G lauded the efforts of BRO personnel in resorting the Shinku La-Padum road as well as Manali-Leh road in record time.
 
* On this occasion, BRO Project Deepak's Chief Engineer P K Barua, Project Yojak Chief Engineer Jitender Prasad, Commander 38 BRTF Col Shabarish Wachhali, Rigzin Hayrappa, ex-zila parishad member Lahaul, and people from Darcha, Chikka, Jispa and Rarik thanked the BRO D-G for the latest development project..
