Making the National Pension System (NPS) more attractive for subscribers joining it after 65 years of age, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has permitted them to allocate up to 50 per cent of the funds in equity, besides easing the exit norms.
 
The PFRDA has revised the guidelines on entry and exit following an increase in the maximum age for joining the NPS from 65 years to 70 years of age. The entry age for NPS has been revised to 18-70 years from 18-65 years.
 
Any Indian citizen and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) in the age group of 65-70 years can also join NPS and continue up to the age of 75 years, according to a PFRDA circular on the revised guidelines.

To celebrate the second anniversary of Fit India Movement and as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur 29-08-2021 launched the Fit India Mobile Application. The Fit India App is available on both Android and iOS platforms and has been developed in such a way that it works even on basic smartphones.
 
Launching it in New Delhi, Mr. Thakur said, this mobile application will help monitor fitness and through it an attempt has been made to show that fitness is easy. He urged the people to download the application. The Minister called upon the people to give half an hour everyday for fitness.
 
Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Nisith Pramanik was also present on the occasion. Indian Hockey team captain Manpreet Singh, wrestler Sangram Singh, Ayaz Memon and others joined the event virtually.

Who are the Dimasas?
The Dimasas (or Dimasa-Kacharis) are the earliest known rulers and settlers of Assam, and now live in Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Cachar, Hojai and Nagaon districts of central and southern Assam, as well as parts of Nagaland.
 
Prior to Ahom rule, the Dimasa kings — believed to be the descendants of the rulers of the ancient Kamarupa kingdom — ruled large parts of Assam along the south bank of the Brahmaputra between the 13th and 16th centuries.
 
Their earliest historically known capital was Dimapur (now in Nagaland), and later Maibang in North Cachar Hills.

The Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has permitted authorised card networks to offer card tokenisation services to any token requestor in a bid to make card transactions more safe, secure and convenient for the users. In a notification issued 25-08-2021, RBI said that it has provided the facility to interested cardholders only for their mobile phones and tablets.  
 
The central bank noticed that there has been an uptake in the volume of tokenised card transactions during the recent months and on a review of the framework and keeping in view stakeholders feedback, RBI decided to extend the scope of tokenisation to include consumer devices – laptops, , desktops, wearables (wristwatches, bands, etc.) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The Reserve Bank of India has increased the incentive that it gives to the banks for the distribution of coins over the counter from Rs 25/bag to Rs 65/bag of coin. Will be paid on the basis of net withdrawal from currency chest (CCs), without waiting for claims from banks,” the RBI said.
 
The currency chest branch, it added, will pass on the incentive to the linked bank/branches for coins distributed by them on a pro-rata basis within one week from the receipt of incentives from RBI.
