The Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a general allocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) equivalent to US $650 billion (about SDR 456 billion) on August 2, 2021, to boost global liquidity.
 
“This is a historic decision – the largest SDR allocation in the history of the IMF and a shot in the arm for the global economy at a time of unprecedented crisis. The SDR allocation will benefit all members, address the long-term global need for reserves, build confidence, and foster the resilience and stability of the global economy. It will particularly help our most vulnerable countries struggling to cope with the impact of the COVID-19 crisis,” IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said.

The entire bunch comprises MTech (Artificial Intelligence) and MTech (Data Science) under the Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Data Science (CAIDS), MDes (Industrial Design), and MIM (Masters in Innovation Management) under the Department of Design.

The Centre has rushed a multi-disciplinary team to Maharashtra to monitor the Zika virus situation and support the State Government in the management of the virus. A case of Zika has been reported in Pune district recently. Health Ministry said, the three-member Central team consists of a public health expert from the Office of Regional Director, Pune, a gynecologist from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi and an entomologist from National Institute of Malaria Research, ICMR, New Delhi.
 
The team will work closely with the State Health Department and take a stock of the situation on ground. They will assess whether the Union Health Ministry’s Action Plan for Zika Management is being implemented and recommend necessary public health interventions for Zika management in the state.
