Every year on April 26, World Intellectual Property Day (WIPD) is observed to promote awareness about the influence of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and design on daily life. The function of intellectual property (IP) rights is to stimulate innovation and creativity across the various civilizations present in the world.

The day is celebrated to see the potential of the younger generation and help them focus on transitioning to a more suitable future. Inventions, literary and creative works, designs, symbols, names, and pictures utilised in business are all examples of intellectual property.

World Intellectual Property Day History and Significance :

The day plays a significant role in helping young inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs to use intellectual property (IP) to achieve their goals, generate income, create jobs, and tackle local and global challenges by supporting community and national development.

The WIPO convention came into effect in 1970 and, in the year 2000, WIPO's member states declared April 26 as World Intellectual Property.

The initiative was to minimize the gap between IP as a business or legal concept and its relevance to individuals' lives.

World Intellectual Property Day 2023 Theme :

Women all over the world are influencing the world with their imagination, inventiveness, and hard work, but they frequently face substantial barriers to gaining the information, skills, resources, and support they require to prosper.

The theme for this year (2023) is the ‘can do’ attitude of women inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs around the world and their ground-breaking work.

What is Intellectual Property?
Intellectual property (IP) is a non-physical asset that a person or corporation possesses. Intellectual property rights are the rights granted to individuals over the production of minds.

Types of  Intellectual Property :

* Patents
* Copyright
* Trademarks
* Industrial designs
* Geographical indications
* Trade secret..
