Iran has launched a solid-fueled rocket into space. Defense Ministry Spokesman Ahmad Hosseini said Zuljanah, a 25.5 meter-long rocket, is capable of carrying a satellite of 220 kilograms that will ultimately gather data in low-earth orbit and promote Iran’s space industry. Zuljanah is named for the horse of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
 
However, it drew a rebuke from Washington ahead of the expected resumption of stalled talks over Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers. The White House said it is aware of Iran’s announcement and criticized the move as unhelpful and destabilizing. The White House said it is committed to using sanctions and other measures to prevent further advances in Iran’s ballistic missile program.
 
Iran, which long has said it does not seek nuclear weapons, maintains its satellite launches and rocket tests do not have a military component.
 
The launch comes just a day after the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, traveled to Tehran in a push to resuscitate negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program that have stalemated for months..

China on Thursday(23rd June 2022) successfully launched three new remote sensing satellites from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwest China's Sichuan Province, official media reported.
 
The satellites were launched as the second batch of the Yaogan-35 family at 10:22 a.m. (local time) by a Long March-2D carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully.
 
The satellites will be mainly used to conduct science experiments, land resource surveys, yield estimation of agricultural products and disaster prevention and reduction, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
 
This launch marked the 424th mission for the Long March series carrier rockets..

South Korea successfully launched satellites into orbit with its homegrown Nuri rocket on Tuesday(21st June 2022), a significant step for the country's burgeoning space program after a failed attempt last year.
 
The three-stage rocket, more than 47 meters (154 feet) long and weighing 200 tons, was launched from the Naro Space Center in the country's southern coastal region at 4 p.m. local time.

It was topped with five satellites that will carry out Earth observation missions, such as monitoring the atmosphere, for up to two years, as well as a 1.3-ton dummy satellite, according to the country's Science Ministry.

"The road from South Korea to space has opened now," said President Yoon Suk Yeol after the launch. "It's the fruit of the difficult challenges of the past 30 years. Now, our Korean people and our young people's dream and hope will reach toward space."

Prior to South Korea's mission on Tuesday(21st June 2022), only Russia, the United States, the European Union, China, Japan and India had developed a space launch vehicle capable of carrying a satellite weighing more than 1 ton, according to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
 
South Korea first tried to launch a dummy satellite with the Nuri rocket last October. The attempt failed when the rocket's third-stage engine shut down and the dummy satellite failed to reach low Earth orbit..

The VA257 flight in addition to GSAT-24 satellite of India also carried Measat-3d communication satellite from Malaysia as other co-passenger
 
GSAT-24 is a 24 Ku band communication satellite meant for meeting the Direct-To-Home (DTH) communication needs of the country. Satellite weighed 4180 kg at lift-off and has mission life of 15 years. NSIL has leased the entire satellite capacity to M/s Tata Play for a period of 15 years.  The entire funding for the GSAT-24 mission has been borne by NSIL.
 
After nearly 40 minutes of flight, GSAT-24 satellite was successfully injected into its intended Geo-Synchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) with Perigee: 250 km and Apogee: 35825 km.  
 
Post-separation of GSAT-24 satellite, ISRO's Master Control Facility at Hassan, Karnataka took control of the satellite and initial data received indicates good health of the satellite. In the coming days, the orbit of GSAT-24 satellite would be raised from GTO to Geo-Stationary Orbit (GSO), through a series of orbit raising manoeuvres using satellite’s on-board propulsion system.   
 
“Today’s successful mission of GSAT-24 is a major step forward for NSIL in commercially meeting the DTH communication needs of the country using indigenously built satellite solutions from ISRO,” Dr S Somanath, Secretary DOS said.
 
With the successful launch of GSAT-24, NSIL will be owning and operating nearly 11 Communication Satellites in-orbit and would meet the bulk of the communication needs of the country.  GSAT-24 is the first of the many Demand Driven Missions, that NSIL would undertake in the coming years.

Announcing the development on the eve of International Yoga Day, the AIIMS doctors said astronauts will benefit from the anti-gravity gear as it will help them strengthen muscles and prevent loss of bone density minerals.
 
What is touted to be India’s first bodysuit for astronauts will increase the weight of the astronauts by over 70 percent in space, preventing them from floating, doctors at AIIMS said. The National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, validated their claim. The proof of concept will be presented to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)..

China launched its third manned mission to its under-construction space station on on Sunday(5th June 2022).

Three Chinese astronauts docked at the country’s space station, marking a new milestone in Beijing’s drive to become a major space power.
 
The trio blasted off in a Long March-2F rocket at 0814 IMT from the Jiuquan launch centre in north-western China’s Gobi desert, said broadcaster CCTV.

The team is tasked with “completing in-orbit assembly and construction of the space station”, as well as “commissioning of equipment” and conducting scientific experiments.

The spacecraft docked at the Tiangong station after about “seven hours of flight”.

Tiangong, which means “heavenly palace”, is expected to become fully operational by the end of the year. The completed station will be similar to the Soviet Mir station that orbited Earth from the 1980s until 2001.

China’s heavily promoted space programme has already seen the nation land a rover on Mars and send probes to the Moon.

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope will send back its first full-colour images and spectroscopic data on July 12, 2022. The telescope is the largest and most complex observatory ever launched into space. India's communication satellite GSAT-24 will be launched by Arianespace from Kourou in French Guiana on June 22nd, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said in a mission status update on 31st May 2022.
