9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) was inaugurated 8th Dec 2022 at Panaji, Goa in the presence of Union Minister of State for Tourism and Shipping, Ports and Waterways Shripad Naik, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha. The 9th WAC aims to showcase the efficacy and strength of the AYUSH systems of medicine at the Global level.
 
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the valedictory function of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress. He also inaugurated 11th Dec 2022 three National Ayush Institutes.

The three institutes - All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad and National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Delhi - will further strengthen research and international collaborations and will also facilitate affordable Ayush services for people. Developed at a total cost of about Rs 970 crores, these institutes will increase the intake of students by around 400 along with the addition of about 500 hospital beds.
 
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister welcomed all the delegates of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress from around the globe to the beautiful land of Goa and congratulated everyone for the successes of the World Ayurveda Congress.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the World Ayurveda Congress is being organised when the journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal is underway. The Prime Minister said that one of the key resolutions of the Amrit Kaal is to ensure global welfare through India’s scientific, knowledge and cultural experience and Ayurveda is a strong and effective medium for that.

Referring to India's G-20 Presidency, the Prime Minister informed about the theme of G-20 ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future..

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister "MK Stalin" launched the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission on Friday(9th Dec 2022) to protect the natural resources in the state besides restoring them on a long-term basis.
 
The state will achieve carbon neutrality much ahead of 2070 target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said while launching the pioneering initiative, which takes the climate agenda on priority with district missions and climate officers already in place in the state.
 
The state is the first to launch its own Climate Change Mission to make Tamil Nadu a climate-smart state.
 
"Let the Dravidian model guide (the nation) not only in social justice but also in ecological justice," Stalin said in a tweet, after launching the mission at the TN Climate Summit 2022.
 
During the budget for 2021-2022, the state government announced the launch of the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission for an outlay of Rs 500 crore to undertake climate change management and mitigation activities. Following this, the government established India's first 'Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company(TNGCC) -- a special purpose vehicle – to implement three major nature conservation projects namely Green Tamil Nadu Mission, Tamil Nadu Wetlands and Tamil Nadu Climate Change..

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Thursday(8th Dec 2022) hailed fellow pioneers during the unveiling of the first US banknotes printed with two women's signatures while calling for "much more" work to advance equity for women and minorities.
 
Yellen, the first woman to head the Treasury and chair the US Federal Reserve, said the new banknotes being produced at the Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) site in Fort Worth, Texas, were a reminder of the contributions of women who have worked at Treasury and in economics.
 
Seeing the bills for the first time, Yellen told Malerba: "Oh my gosh. Here we are." Asked how she felt, a beaming Yellen told reporters: "Excited. Honored. Thrilled."
 
The banknotes, to be delivered to the Federal Reserve this month and enter circulation next year, are the first to carry the signature of a female Treasury chief and a Native woman.
 
The Fort Worth facility - one of two in the United States - prints over 50% of US paper currency each year. The other one, in Washington, will begin printing the new bills in January or February..
