Ukrainian President "Volodymyr Zelenskyy" is among five people named on Thursday(19 Apr 2022) as recipients of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for acting to protect democracy. Zelenskyy was chosen because of the way he has "marshaled the spirit, patriotism and untiring sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in a life-or-death fight for their country," as Russia pours in troops and assaults cities and towns, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation said.
 
The foundation said four US officials were chosen for standing up for free and fair elections, as the system is challenged in ways it has never been before.
 
They are : Republican US Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers and Fulton County, Georgia, elections worker Wandrea "Shaye" Moss.
 
Caroline Kennedy and her son, Jack Schlossberg, will present the awards on May 22 at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston. The award was created by the family of the late president to honour public figures who risk their careers by embracing unpopular positions for the greater good, and is named after Kennedy's 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "Profiles in Courage.".

Indian-American chief executive of General Atomics Global Corporation Vivek Lall has been selected for the prestigious Entrepreneur Leadership Awards by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
 
Established in 1968, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) is the apex bi-lateral Chamber synergising India-US economic engagement.
 
Lall, 53, has been selected for the ‘Global Leader in Defence and Aviation Sector’ award category, which would be presented virtually during an awards ceremony on Friday. Union Civil Aviation Minister "Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia" will be the chief guest of the event.
 
Lall, who has played a key role in enhancing defence trade in various capacities in Boeing, Lockheed Martin and now General Atomics, was recently honoured by the Governor of Kentucky as a Kentucky Colonel, which is the highest title of honour bestowed by the State. Kentucky Colonel is the most well-known honorary colonelcies conferred by United States governors.
 
Former US presidents George Bush, Jimmy Carter, Lynden Johnson, Ronald Reagan are some others that have been conferred this honour.
 
Lall was also granted the Grand Cross by His Highness Mahmoud Salah Al Din Assaf from the Royal Order of Banu Assaf in January 2022.

The Vice President also called for intensified efforts for early detection of leprosy cases, equitable access to appropriate treatment and integrated leprosy services. Mr. Naidu urged the people and civil society organizations to join the campaign to eradicate leprosy. He said, there should be social mobilization in support of this noble cause. He also wanted Gram Sabhas to include leprosy eradication in their programmes.
 
Acknowledging India’s steady fight against leprosy, Mr. Naidu said that India successfully accomplished levels of leprosy eradication defined as less than one case per ten thousand population..
