Trinidad and Tobago Olympic and world medalist Dion Landor has died in a car accident at the age of 29. The governing body of World Athletics and Sports gave information about this on Tuesday. According to reports, Landor died in a car accident in Texas, USA on Monday(10th Jan 2022).
 
News of his death first appeared on social media in the United States and the Caribbean and was later confirmed by the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee.
 
A three-time Olympian, who led his country to a medal for the bronze relay at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He then went on to win bronze medals in two world indoor 400s and 4x400m.
 
Born on 28 October 1992 in Mount Hope, the sprinter began his career with local club Abilene Wildcats before moving to the United States.
 
He made his global debut at the 2009 World Under 18 Championships in Bresnon and competed in the 2010 World Under 20 Championships in Moncton. Subsequently, at the age of 19, he made his Olympic debut in London.

South Africa all-rounder "Chris Morris" on Tuesday(11th Jan 2022) announced his retirement from all forms of cricket and is set to take up a coaching role with domestic side Titans.
 
The 34-year-old cricketer made the announcement on social media.
 
“Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small?it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at @titanscricket #lifebeginsnow,” Morris wrote on his Instagram page.
 
A right-arm pacer and explosive batter, Morris made his Test debut as late as 2016 and featured in only four games in traditional format, making 173 runs and taking 12 wickets.
 
He represented South Africa in four Tests, 42 ODIs and 23 T20 Internationals, picking up 48 and 34 wickets respectively.
 
With the bat in hand, Morris scored 467 runs in ODIs and 133 in T20s respectively.
 
Morris played for Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings franchises in the IPL.

Tamil Nadu’s Fourteen-year(14 Years)-Old Bharath Subramaniyam on Sunday (9th January 2022), became India's 73rd chess Grandmaster, after completing his third and final GM norm at Vergani Cup Open in Italy. The Chennai-based player  scored 6.5 points from nine rounds along with four others to finish seventh overall in the event. He secured his third GM norm here and also touched the requisite 2,500 (Elo) mark. Notably, to become a GM, a player has to secure three GM norms and cross the live rating of 2,500 Elo points.
 
The All India Chess Federation (AICF) also congratulated the teenager on his feat. "Fourteen-year-old Bharath Subramaniyam becomes the 73rd Grandmaster of the country after completing his final GM Norm and crossing the 2500 rating at Vergani Cup Open in Italy. All India Chess Federation congratulates Bharath for the achievement," AICF wrote on its website.
 
Bharath’s coach M Shyam Sundar, himself a Grandmaster, tweeted: "Congratulations Bharath for becoming the latest GM of India!! Let’s focus on new goals in this new year!!"
