Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner on Saturday (8th April 2023) became the quickest batter to reach the 6000-run mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during a match against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

* The left-hander brought up a 44-ball fifty with a four off Ravichandran Ashwin. It was Warner’s 57th half-century in the IPL. He has also struck four centuries in the tournament. Warner also moved to the topped of the batting charts for the season during the knock.

* Warner’s Delhi, thus far, has lost both its IPL 2023 matches - against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants..

Peru was stripped of hosting the men’s Under-17 World Cup 2023 on Monday (3rd April 2023) because FIFA said the country was not ready to stage the tournament later this year.

* FIFA did not name a replacement host for the 24-team tournament scheduled to be played from Nov. 10-Dec. 2.

* The decision comes one week after FIFA took the men’s Under-20 World Cup from Indonesia because that country did not want to host Israel at its tournament in May.

* FIFA cited Peru’s inability “to fulfill its commitments to completing the infrastructure required to stage the tournament.”

* “There is now not sufficient time to secure the required investment and complete the necessary work with the Peruvian government ahead of the tournament start date,” FIFA said.

* FIFA picked both Peru and Indonesia in 2019 to host the respective 2021 editions of the tournaments. Both have been delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

* Argentina wants to stage the Under-20 World Cup. FIFA is expected to confirm a host nation this week..

* It is held that the Athlete has violated Article 2.1 & 2.2 of the NADA ADR, 2021, she is hereby sanctioned with an ineligibility of four (04) years as per Article 10.2.1 of the NADA ADR, 2021, the three-member NADA Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel headed by Chaitanya Mahajan said in the order.

* Sanjita's ban will commence on November 12, 2022, the date of her provisional suspension.

* The period of ineligibility shall commence from the date of provisional suspension i.e,12.11.2022. It shall be noted that the athlete has failed to satisfy the panel that the ADRV was non-intentional as per Article 10.2.1.1 of the NADA ADR, 2023.

* This a is a huge setback for Sanjita, who will be stripped of the National Games silver medal as a result of the positive test.

* As per Article 10.10 of the NADA ADR, 2021, the athlete is hereby disqualified of all of the individual results obtained in the said Event with all Consequences, including forfeiture of all medals, points and prizes since 30-09-2022," the order, dated March 31.

* Sanjita had won gold in 48kg ahead of Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. At the 2018 edition of the CWG in Gold Coast, she was crowned champion in the 53kg category.

* The Manipuri has the option to appeal against the decision of the disciplinary panel. She can do that by approaching to the appeals panel of the NADA within 21 days from the date of receipt of the decision..
