In Badminton, the Indian star duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy have stormed into the men's doubles final of the French Open tournament in Paris.

The world No. 8 Indian pair beat South Koreans Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho  21-18, 21-14 in the semifinals 29th Oct 2022. Satwik and Chirag will play the summit clash against Chinese Taipei’s Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han 30th Oct 2022.

The Chinese duo defeated the British pair of Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 21-15, 21-14 in the other semifinals last night.  


Meanwhile, reigning world champion Viktor Axelsen advanced in the men's singles final after securing a straight-set victory against Japan's Kodai Naraoka. The men’s singles summit clash will be played today between the two Danish players, Viktor Axelsen and Rasmus Gemke.

2016 Olympic gold medallist Carolina Marin defeated reigning two-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi 21-14, 21-18 to reach the women's singles final. Marin will face the winner between China's He Bing Jiao in the summit clash. .

Maharashtra-based weightlifter "Akanksha Vyavahare" created three new national records in the 40kg weight category at the Khelo India National Ranking Women's Weightlifting tournament here.

The weightlifter, who is also a part of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme, created records in 'snatch', 'clean and jerk' and total weight lifted on Friday(28th Oct 2022).
 
Akanksha improved her existing 'snatch' national record by lifting 60kg. She recorded 71kg in the 'clean and jerk', and in the process registering a total lift of 131kg.
 
Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu was present during the opening ceremony earlier in the day.
 
Speaking about the importance of the Khelo India women's leagues, Mirabai mentioned, “The leagues are very important as many girls are coming across and representing different States and UTs of India. The exposure being provided will very beneficial for all girls in the coming future."
 
Mirabai had won the gold medal in Phase 1 of the Khelo India weightlifting tournament in Himachal Pradesh earlier this year..

In wrestling, teenager Aman Sehrawat made history as he became the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.

The 16-year-old Aman Sehrawat beat junior European silver-medallist Ahmet Duman of Turkey 12-4 in the final to win the gold. Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Ravi Kumar Dahiya had made the final in their categories in previous editions but could only win the silver medal.
