Upcoming Indian swimmer "Vedaant Madhavan", son of Indian film star "R Madhavan", won the gold medal in the men's 800m freestyle event at the ongoing Danish Open 2022 swimming competition in Copenhagen on Sunday(17th Apr 2022).
 
Vedaant Madhavan clocked a personal best of 8:17.28 - 11.48 seconds better than his previous best and 0.10 seconds faster than silver medallist Alexander L Bjorn. The Indian national swimming record in the 800m freestyle is 8:00.76.
 
This is the second medal for the 16-year-old Vedaant Madhavan at the ongoing event and his third personal best in as many races.
 
Earlier on Friday(15th Apr 2022), Vedaant Madhavan had won silver in the men's 1500m freestyle event with a personal best time of 15.57.86. However, his personal best of 1:54.50 in 200m freestyle wasn’t enough to fetch him a medal as he finished 12th overall.

Competing for the first time in an international meet this year, Sajan Prakash clocked 1.59.27 seconds to finish on top podium. Denmark’s Heorhij Lukashev followed with the timing of 1:59.89 and Oliver Sogaard-Andersen, 2:02.81, came third.
 
Last year, Sajan Prakash clocked the national record timing of 1:56:38 in the 200m butterfly to become the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the Olympics directly by breaching 'A' standard time. He also became the first and only Indian swimmer to make it to two Olympic Games.

India will host Street Child Cricket World Cup 2023 ((SCCWC 2023) to champion the rights of street children worldwide. Organised by Save the Children India (Bal Raksha Bharat) and Street Child United, the 10-day event, which will be held in September, will have 22 teams from 16 countries participating in it.
 
The event will have street-connected children and young people take part in a mixed-gender cricket tournament, a festival of arts and a congress to champion the rights of street children worldwide.
 
SCCWC 2023 is the second edition of the tournament. The inaugural event was held in London/Cambridge in 2019, where eight teams competed, and Team India South emerged victorious after beating hosts England in a highly competitive final.
 
The winners will return in 2023 to defend their title alongside seven other teams from India who will represent organisations from across different regions of the country. They will be joined by teams from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Burundi, England, Hungary, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
