A new survey indicates that small and medium firms (SMEs) in India are increasing their budgets due to reasons such as the advent of AI, global economic uncertainty, and changing security risks.

The results show that a large majority of Indian SMEs have reported budget increases, highlighting their proactive approach to cybersecurity readiness.

US-based corporate software vendor JumpCloud's analysis shows that SMEs in India saw the biggest increase in budget, with just 8% facing stagnant or reduced budgets.

Indian organisations are demonstrating an optimistic trend by prioritising scalable solutions for device and identity management to line with their growth aspirations while fulfilling compliance and security imperatives. This shows their flexible and forward-thinking character.

Network assaults are the primary security issue worldwide, while in India, software vulnerability exploits are the most significant concern, followed by network attacks and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Additionally, IT managers in India are more optimistic about IT expenditure, with 92% expecting budget increases, above the worldwide average of 80%.

India has rapid AI adoption rates, with just 4% of respondents showing no desire to use AI, in contrast to respondents in the US and UK. 82% of Indian respondents strongly support investing in AI inside their organisations, showing a firm belief in the revolutionary power of AI technology.
