Nvidia, Google and OpenAI are in Trouble
Nvidia, an American multinational corporation and technology company is making headlines these days because of its involvement in a case. Three US authors have filed lawsuits against the company.

The authors, Brian Keene, Abdi Nazemian, and Stewart O’Nan have said that the company has used their copyrighted books in order to train the NeMo AI platform.

They also added that their works were part of a data set of about 196,640 books that helped train NeMo to simulate ordinary written language, before being taken down in October “due to reported copyright infringement”.

The authors filed a proposed class action in San Francisco federal court on Friday night, stating that the takedown is a result of Nvidia's acknowledgment that they trained NeMo on the data set, which constitutes copyright infringement.

The complainants are pursuing undetermined compensation for individuals in the United States whose copyrighted materials have been utilised to train NeMo's huge language models over the previous three years.

On the other hand, other top IT giants like Google and OpenAI are also these days involved in lawsuits. They have also been facing backlashes for the past few days. Continue reading to know more about the incident.

Elon Musk sues OpenAI :

Elon Musk, a businessman and investor has taken a legal action against Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. He said that the company is diverted from its initial goal which was creating AI to aid people. Instead the company is now highly inclined towards generating profit.

Musk's lawsuit contends that there has been a violation of the contractual agreement, asserting that Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman initially approached him with the intention of creating an open source, non-profit organisation. However, the venture, which was created in 2015, has now shifted its focus towards generating returns.

Discrimination lawsuit against Google :

Recently, Google has also been found involved in a discrimination case filed by its only black deaf employee, Jalon Hall. Hall was taking care of moderating YouTube videos and was promised to be provided with a sign language interpreter during the hiring process. However, she didn’t get any support from the firm and she ended up filing a discrimination case in December.

Hall believed that although Google presented her as a model of diversity, they did not sufficiently meet her requirements, resulting in accusations of racism and audism, a type of discrimination against individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
