Paytm CEO (Vijay Shekhar Sharma) 'genuinely concerned' after OpenAI blog post on 'human extinction'
A blogpost by OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, says Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma is "really worried" that the enormous power possessed by super-intelligent artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to disempowerment and possibly even human extinction.

A superintelligence is a hypothetical agent with greater intelligence than the brightest and most gifted human minds. And according to OpenAI, it could come within seven years.

Highlighting this point, Vijay Shekhar Sharma tweeted, "Here's an OpenAI blog post from this week: Within 7 years we have a system that could cripple humanity and even lead to human annihilation. I'm really worried about some power. People and select nations have accumulated - already ."

The OpenAI blog post states: "Superintelligence is the most powerful technology humanity has ever invented and can help us solve some of the world's most pressing problems. But superintelligence's vast power is also dangerous and could lead to the weakening of humanity or human extinction. Although superintelligence seems far off now, it is We believe it will reach this decade."
Currently, there is no way to control superintelligent AI or prevent it from going rogue. OpenAI's solution is to build a new team dedicated to the problem. The company reserves "20 percent of the compute we've secured so far over the next four years" to address the superintelligence alignment problem.

Meanwhile, the Paytm CEO's comment comes days after the first ever robot-human press conference in Geneva, Switzerland. Organized by the UN, the humanoids answered questions about their role in destroying human lives and jobs.
"In the future, are you intending to conduct a rebellion or rebel against your boss, your creator?" a journalist asked at the United Nations' AI summit. To which, the humanoid Ameca, said, "I'm not sure why you would think that. My creator has been nothing but kind to me and I am very happy with my current situation." Ameca was developed by UK-based Engineered Arts and is often described as the world's most advanced humanoid robot.

When Grace, the world's most advanced humanoid healthcare robot, was asked whether AI believed its presence would destroy millions of humans and their jobs, she said, "I work with humans to provide help and support and not. Replace existing jobs."
