TCS has seen a significant increase in sexual harassment complaints in FY 2022-23
Recent data for FY 2022-23 is painting an alarming picture of TCS’s workplace environment, with critics pointing fingers at the company’s ineffective resolution rate and a lack of transparency in addressing sexual harassment and discrimination complaints.

The company saw a sharp increase in sexual harassment complaints during the fiscal year 2022-23, with 49 filed cases, a significant leap from the 36 complaints received in FY 2021-22.

More disconcerting is the number of unresolved cases, with 8 pending at the end of FY 2022-23, compared to 16 pending the previous year.
Although the numbers for discrimination complaints were not as staggering, with only 3 filed during FY 2022-23, critics argue that the nature of these allegations calls for a more rigorous and transparent response from the tech giant.

While TCS maintains that these concerns are addressed confidentially and that the company has mechanisms in place to prevent retaliation against individuals who file complaints, the mounting number of sexual harassment complaints and the opaque review process have led critics to question the effectiveness of these safeguards.
As no complaints have been filed regarding child labour, forced or involuntary labour, wage issues, or other human rights violations, the rising tide of sexual harassment allegations suggests a more specific problem within the company culture that needs immediate attention.

This report is a stern reminder for TCS that it must work diligently to enhance its response to harassment and discrimination cases. Continued negligence could lead to reputational damage, legal repercussions, and a significant hit to employee morale and productivity.

TCS must ensure a safe and respectful working environment for its employees, proving that its commitment to employee welfare extends beyond mere rhetoric.
