Zerodha CTO says generative AI can replace tech jobs that do not require much creativity.
Key Points :

* Indian online investment platform Zerodha CTO says AI will take away basic level tech jobs.

* He said that those jobs require no creativity and can be automated easily.

* However, it is still hard to say how this will play out.

The debate around the possibility of generative AI costing human beings their jobs has been going around for quite some time.

While some experts say that AI will help humans in being more efficient and will save up their time, others believe that AI will lead to loss of jobs around the world.

And online investment company Zerodha's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Kailash Nadh, feels that the jobs that involve no creativity might be automated in the future.
In an interview with Moneycontrol, Nadh says that the work done by the tech workers at the lower ranks could easily be carried out by generative AI.

When Nadh was asked if engineers working at IT companies are at a greater risk of being replaced by generative AI, he replied, "The reason behind IT services companies hiring a lot of people is not technology.
It is about how their business is structured. The headcount is connected to billings in IT service companies. For example, a certain project could be billed as 30 ‘resources’, that is the industry parlance, multiplied by the per hour charge.

Although, it is not as if that money ever comes to the employees. It's a socio-economic reason why they hire so many and why they have such high attrition rates like 50-60 percent.

If you set aside all that, the actual technology work carried out by people at the lower ranks could easily be done by generative AI coding. There is very little creative work involved. It is all about maintenance and patching legacy systems for large clients. And, logically, that is the easiest thing to replace.
