The construction of India’s first International Multimodal Logistics Park at Jogighopa in Assam is well underway, and the jetty is expected to be completed by the end of this year (2023).

* The park, being built at a cost of Rs 693.97 crore, will provide direct connectivity by waterways, road, rail and air and is expected to be completed in 2023.

* Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH, reviewed the progress. Recently visited the site and expressed satisfaction over the pace of work.

* The project aims at revitalizing the transport network in the Northeast region of India including neighboring countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh. PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a key component of this vision, which aims to revitalize and rejuvenate the transport system and make it an efficient and effective agent of change.

* The International Multimodal Logistics Park is being developed under the government’s ambitious Bharatmala project, and is the first of its kind. The park is being constructed by NHIDCL at Jogighopa in Assam, and will be connected by road, rail, air and waterways.

* Spread over 317 acres of land on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, the park has all the necessary facilities like warehouse, railway siding, cold storage, custom clearance house, yard facility, workshop, petrol pump, truck parking, administrative building, boarding lodging, eating joints and water treatment plant. There will be facilities.

* To improve connectivity in the region, a 4-lane road will be built between Jogighopa and Guwahati covering a distance of 154 km. A 3 km rail line will connect Jogighopa station to MMLP, while another 3 km rail link will connect it to IWT. The newly developed Rupsi airport road will also be upgraded to 4-lane for easier connectivity.

* The creation of the International Multimodal Logistics Park is likely to open up huge opportunities for the Northeast region of India including neighboring countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh.

* The park will not only facilitate faster and more efficient transportation of goods, but will also generate employment opportunities and boost economic development in the region. The success of this project will depend on the cooperation of all stakeholders, and the government has called upon everyone to join this wonderful initiative and make it a grand success..
