Prime Minister Narendra Modi  December 1, extended his wishes to the people of Nagaland on their Statehood day.
 
Nagaland is celebrating its 60th statehood day today(1st December 2022). It became the 16th State of the Union of India on 1st December 1963
 
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will address the people of the state this morning at a state-level statehood celebration programme organised at Civil Secretariat Plaza
 
On the occasion, the Chief Minister will launch the SAHYOG project of Nagaland Police and also flag off Nagaland Police Special Operation Group Vehicles
 
On the eve of the Statehood day, the Governor of Assam & Nagaland Prof Jagdish Mukhi extended greetings to the people of the state and urged the Naga people to use the 60th Statehood Day as an opportunity to reflect on mistakes, deliberate, and engage on core issues and put in more concerted efforts towards transforming the State.
 
He said since attaining Statehood on December 1, 1963, the state has experienced unprecedented progress in every sector and emerged as one of the promising state in the growth narrative of our country.
 
He also acknowledged the pioneers and leaders who have contributed immensely to shaping the State of Nagaland, adding that these leaders with great foresight sowed the seed and nurtured the vision of an ideal Nagaland flourishing in peace, harmony, progress, and development.
 
The Governor noted that every citizen of the state, from farmers, entrepreneurs, sportspersons, and leaders, to missions, churches, and civil society organizations, have a vital role, none undermining the other and can be agents of change in thrusting the State forward..
