Cognizant and Gilead Sciences extend partnership worth $800mn for 5 years
American multinational (IT firm) Cognizant has signed a deal with biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences to manage its global IT infrastructure, platforms, applications, and advanced analytics, while also driving digital transformation initiatives over the period of 5 years.

The partnership — worth over $800 million — will enable faster development and launch of crucial medicines to combat life-threatening diseases such as HIV, viral hepatitis, and cancer.
 
Gilead’s digital transformation will be further reinforced through data analytics services, improving experiences for both internal and external clients across 40-plus countries and benefiting the company's 18,000 internal users, Cognizant said in statement.

In addition, Cognizant will assist Gilead in improving customer experiences by using generative AI and AI-driven automation during the transformation. Furthermore, Gilead will tap into Cognizant's Neuro IT service, known for its AI automation innovation, to further enhance its capabilities.
Gilead has been collaborating with Cognizant for over three years, adopting its technologies to achieve improved business outcomes.

Marc Berson, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Gilead Sciences said, “Through this collaboration, Cognizant has provided critical expertise to progress our digital transformation journey while enabling stable, secure operations.
This has allowed us to advance research and commercialization of transformative treatments for some of the world's most challenging diseases. We look forward to expanding this partnership to advance to the next phases of our capability roadmap.”
