03 November 2022, the 11th edition of the annual Joint Military Training (JMT) between the Indian Air Force (lAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) commenced at Air Force Station, Kalaikunda, .

The two Air Forces have resumed this training after a gap of two years. The training could not be carried out in the intervening two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

This edition of JMT would be conducted over a period of six weeks. The bilateral phase of the exercise will be conducted from 09 to 18 November 2022 and will see the two Air Forces engage in advanced air combat simulations.
 
The RSAF is participating in JMT-2022 with F-16 aircraft, while the IAF would field the Su-30 MKI, Jaguar, MiG-29 and LCA Tejas aircraft.

The exercise underscores the strong and longstanding relationship between India and Singapore in the domain of defence cooperation. It seeks to provide the participating contingents with an opportunity to share valuable operational knowledge, experiences and best practices, while strengthening the professional bonds between the two Air Forces..

The Ministry of Defence on 3 November 2022 said that the Indian Army has registered ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)’ of the new design and camouflage pattern uniform.
 
"The process for registration of the new Camouflage Pattern and Design of Improved Combat Uniform to establish ownership of the Indian Army has been completed by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademark, Kolkata," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
 
The new digital pattern combat uniform for Indian Army soldiers was unveiled on 15 January 2022, which has a contemporary look and functional design.

As per details, provided by the Defence Ministry, the fabric has been made lighter, stronger, breathable, quick drying and easier to maintain. Also, the uniform’s uniqueness is evident with the inclusion of gender specific modifications for women’s combat uniform.
 
A total of 50,000 sets have already been procured through Canteen Stores Department (CSD) and delivered to 15 CSD Depots as part of the process of introduction of the new pattern uniform..

The Indian Army has approved project sanction orders of five Make II projects, including drone kill system and infantry training weapon simulator, giving an impetus to India's vision for self-reliance, the Defence Ministry said on Friday(4th Nov 2022)
 
Make II projects are essentially industry-funded projects involving design, development and innovative solutions by Indian vendors for development of prototypes..
 
"Indian Army is spearheading actions to provide impetus to 'Make Projects' as the prime drivers of infusion of niche technologies through indigenous development," the ministry said in a statement.
 
To give a further boost to the ongoing projects, the Indian Army has now approved project sanction orders (PSOs) of five Make II projects.
 
These projects whose PSOs have been approved, included high frequency man packed software defined radio, drone kill system, infantry training weapon simulator (IWTS), 155 mm terminally guided munition (TGM) and medium range precision kill system (MRPKS), the ministry said.
 
PSO for development of prototype of High Frequency Man Packed Software Defined Radio (HFSDR) under Make II scheme has been issued to 14 Developing Agencies (DAs). And, 300 HFSDRs are planned to be procured by the Indian Army, on successful development of the prototype, it said.
 
As part of efforts to further encourage the indigenous anti-drone ecosystem, the Indian Army has approved PSO to 18 DAs for procurement of 35 sets of drone kill systems under the Make II scheme, post successful development of a prototype. The project is reserved for MSMEs/start-ups..

India has emerged as a leading defence exporter in recent years and could fulfill Africa's maritime, aerospace and defence requirements, with Mauritius, Mozambique and Seychelles becoming the major buyers of Indian arms during 2017-2021, according to a research report.
 
The report by India Exim Bank, titled 'Reinvigorating India's Economic Engagements with Southern Africa', was released at the inauguration of the CII-Exim Bank Regional Conclave on India-Southern Africa Growth Partnership, where government officials and captains of business and industry are meeting on Tuesday(1st Nov 2022) to discuss a wide range of areas of potential cooperation.
 
The report also suggested a shift from India's current approach to India's defence and security cooperation with Africa and other developing countries, which remains need-based and focuses on empowering through training, capacity building, and humanitarian assistance.
 
"Increased cooperation in areas of aerospace, defence, maritime equipment and vessels can ensure security and enhance technological capacity of Africa and at the same time accelerate India's defence export target of achieving USD 5 billion by 2025".
 
"Indian military vehicle manufacturers such as Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland are already part of the network. Going forward, indigenously developed new age technologies in the maritime segment, including unmanned underwater systems, unmanned aerial systems and drones could also be exported to Africa"...

Operation Vigilant Storm, a four-day training exercise involving hundreds of aircraft and designed to enhance combat readiness and interoperability between the U.S. Air Force and some of its allies in the Asia-Pacific region.
 
The exercise is set to run from 31st October 2022 to 4th November 2022, and has already sparked opposition from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry.
 
Pentagon Press Secretary, Air Force Brig. Gen.Pat Ryder, told reporters that armed units representing the U.S. and the Republic of Korea (ROK) began the planned exercise on Monday(31st Oct 2022).
 
The four-day exercise will incorporate approximately 240 aircraft and thousands of service members from the ROK Air Force, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Army. They will perform approximately 1,600 sorties, which will be monitored by the Korean Air Operations Center in charge of overseeing the operation..

He commanded 1/11 Gorkha Rifles on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, an elite brigade in the Western Theatre, a frontline Counter Insurgency Force in the Kashmir Valley and Trishakti Corps in North East.
 
Lt General Singh has also held key instructional and staff appointments including Instructor at Commando Wing, Belgaum, Additional Director General of Military Operations and Director General (Operational Logistic & Strategic Movement) at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), New Delhi.
 
He has also been a diplomat soldier, having done a stint as Officer-in-Charge, PPO Dharan at the Embassy of India in Nepal.
 
After assuming command, he paid homage to the fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at Southern Command War Memorial, Pune..

The Defence Ministry has informed that the first edition of the India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise commenced at Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on 27th October 2022.

The Indian Navy is hosting the 29th edition of the Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) from 26 to 30 October, 2022 at Visakhapatnam.
 
SIMBEX-2022 is being conducted in two phases – Harbour Phase at Visakhapatnam from 26 to 27 October 2022 followed by the Sea Phase in Bay of Bengal from 28 to 30 October 2022.

Two ships from Republic of Singapore Navy, RSS Stalwart (a Formidable Class Frigate) and RSS Vigilance (a Victory Class Corvette) arrived Visakhapatnam on 25 October 2022 for participation in the exercise.
 
Rear Admiral Sean Wat Jianwen, Fleet Commander, Republic of Singapore Navy called on  Vice Admiral Biswajit  Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet on 25 October 2022. During the meetings, issues of common concern were discussed.
 
The Harbour Phase witnessed extensive professional and sporting interactions between the two navies including cross deck visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE) and planning meetings.
 
SIMBEX series of exercises began in 1994 and were initially known as Exercise Lion King. The scope and complexity of the exercise has risen substantially over the past two decades to include advanced naval drills covering a wide spectrum of maritime operations.

The exercise exemplifies the high level of cooperation between India and Singapore in the maritime domain.  It also highlights the commitment and contribution of the two nations towards enhancing maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region..

Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF) are participating in a bilateral exercise, named 'Garuda VIl', from 26 October to 12 November 2022 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.

In this exercise, FASF will participate with four Rafale fighter aircraft, one A-330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft and a contingent of 220 personnel.

The IAF is participating with Su-30 MKI, Rafale, LCA Tejas and Jaguar fighter aircraft, as well as the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Mi-17 helicopters.

The IAF contingent will also include Combat Enabling Assets like Flight Refuelling Aircraft, AWACS and AEW&C. This joint exercise will provide a platform for both the countries to enhance operational capability and interoperability, while also sharing best practices.
 
This is the seventh edition of the bilateral exercise. The first, third and fifth editions were conducted in India in 2003, 2006 and 2014 at Air Force Stations Gwalior, Kalaikunda and Jodhpur, respectively. The second, fourth and sixth editions were conducted in France in 2005, 2010 and 2019.
 
Participation of the IAF and FASF in this exercise will promote professional interaction, exchange of experiences and enhancement of operational knowledge, besides strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries..
