Indian Army has put forward a proposal to buy 12 more Made-in-India 'Swathi' weapon-locating radars for China border.
 
The system, enables soldiers to automatically detect the location from where enemy weapons like mortars, shells and rockets are being fired upto a distance of 50 kilometres.  The system is capable of simultaneously detecting multiple projectiles which have been fired towards friendly positions. 
 
The Swathi radars, which have been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation and built by Bharat Electronics Limited, will likely cost the ex-chequer Rs.1000 crores if the acquisition is cleared by a high-level Defence Ministry meeting..

Coast Guard on Wednesday(4th May 2022) commissioned its second Air Squadron, 845 Squadron (CG), at the Coast Guard Air Enclave at Nedumbassery in "Kochi".
 
The new Air Squadron, commissioned by Coast Guard Director General "V S Pathania", is equipped with the indigenously developed Advanced Mark III (ALH Mark III) helicopters.
 
The commissioning marks a tremendous leap towards self-reliance in the field of search and rescue operations and long-range maritime surveillance. Four helicopters have been positioned in Kochi to cover the entire coast of Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. The Squadron, led by Commandant Kunal Naik has nine officers and 35 men.

The Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) will hand over India's first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) which will be named 'INS Vikrant' to the Indian Navy next month. This was revealed by CSL Director (Technical) Bejoy Bhasker here on Thursday(28th April 2022) in a press conference held to announce the Shipyard's 50th anniversary.
 
According to Bejoy, IAC will be out for the final sea trial in the next few weeks.
 
The battleship was built at a cost of approximately 23,000 crore, propelling India into a restricted group of countries with the capability to develop cutting-edge aircraft carriers.
 
MiG-29K fighter jets, Kamov-31 helicopters, and MH-60R multi-role helicopters will be used by the warship.
 
It features almost 2,300 compartments, with specialised quarters for female officers, and is meant for a crew of around 1,700 people.
According to officials, Vikrant has a top speed of roughly 28 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots, with a range of about 7,500 nautical miles.
 
The IAC is 262 metres long, 62 metres wide, and stands 59 metres tall. It has been under construction since 2009.
 
Cochin Shipyard Limited constructed the warship.
