The National Security Guard (NSG) is hosting the multinational Joint Anti-Terror Exercise (JATE), “Manesar Anti-Terror 2022”, under the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), at NSG Manesar Garrison. 
 
It is stage 2 of the exercise as, according to an official statement, “The Stage-1 of the Exercise was conducted from July 27 to August 1 by the National Counter Terrorist Forces of SCO Member Countries in their respective territories.”
 
The NSG in its statement on Sunday(9th Oct 2022) said, “The exercise is aimed at exchanging expertise, best practices and build synergy between the Counter Terrorism Forces of the SCO RATS Member Countries to enhance capabilities for conducting Anti-Terrorist operations and countering other security threats collectively.” 
 
Stage-2 of the Exercise is being conducted from October 8 to October 13 at NSG Manesar Garrison, in which eight representatives from National Counter Terrorism Forces of Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Uzbekistan, Russian Federation and NSG of Republic of India are participating.

The Centre on Saturday(8th Oct 2022) approved the creation of a weapon systems branch for the Indian Air Force (IAF) officers for the first time since Independence.
 
Addressing a gathering during the 90th Air Force Day celebrations here, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari said, "It is my privilege to announce that the government has approved the creation of a weapon systems branch for the officers of the Indian Air Force."
 
"This is the first time since Independence that a new operational branch is being created. The creation of this branch would result in savings of over Rs 3,400 crore due to the reduced expenditure on flying training," he said.
 
This was the first time that the annual day celebrations were held outside the National Capital Region (NCR).
 
The Defence Ministry said in a statement, "In a historic step for the Indian Air Force (IAF), the government has approved the creation of a new branch called the weapon systems branch."..

The A200 drone was found to be fully compliant with the Certification Scheme for Unmanned Aircraft Systems notified in January 2022, the full stack drone technology company said in a statement.

"Asteria's A200 drone has been developed for surveying and mapping applications in GIS, agriculture, construction, mining and other industries," it said.

The A200 drone is a rugged, reliable, and performance-driven multirotor drone that weighs less than two kg and has advanced features including automated take-off and landing, multiple fail-safes, single pilot operation, tool-less assembly and disassembly, and a flight time of up to 40 minutes, according to the statement.

The DGCA categorises drones based on their weight. Drones with an all-up-weight of 250 gm to two kg fall under the micro category of drones..

Indian Navy signed an agreement on White Shipping Information Exchange with the Royal New Zealand Navy to promote greater transparency in the Maritime Domain, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
 
The agreement was signed between Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Rear Admiral David Proctor, Chief of Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) during the former’s recent visit to the country.
 
“In a milestone development, an Agreement on White Shipping Information Exchange was signed during this visit. In a big boost to its combat prowess, the Indian Air Force formally inducted the first indigenously developed multirole light combat helicopters (LCH), named Prachand, into its fleet at its Jodhpur base in Rajasthan in the presence of Defence minister Rajnath Singh, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
 
These helicopters are capable of destruction of enemy air defence, performing counter-insurgency operations, combat search and rescue tasks.

The LCH is a result of research & development for two decades. And its induction into the IAF is an important milestone in defence production.".
