Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged champion in the 22nd Dubai Open chess tournament here on Sunday(4th Sep 2022), with 7.5 points as seven Indians finished in the top 10 with R Praggnanandhaa sharing second spot with five others.
 
The 22-year-old Chithambaram and Praggnanandhaa settled for a draw in the ninth and final round which enabled the former finish with seven points, half a point ahead of the rest of the field.
 
The former Indian national champion, seeded 13th, remained unbeaten through the nine rounds, winning six games and drawing three. His victories included those against Rinat Jumabayev and in-form compatriot Arjun Erigaisi.
 
Five players finished on seven points and in joint second spot — Praggnanandhaa, top-seed Alexandr Predke, Indians Abhijeet Gupta, Jaykumar Sammed Shete and S P Sethuraman.

As many as six space industry memorandums were exchanged between Australia and India on Monday(5th Sep 2022), at the Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) 2022, including two with Bengaluru-based companies.
 
MoUs were exchanged between six Australian and Indian companies, with Bengaluru-based aerospace manufacturer Ananth Technologies collaborating with Space Machines Company in developing product integration, testing, technology development and joint space programmes.
 
Meanwhile, Bengaluru-based space data and analytics company SatSure will be collaborating with QL Space, work on building satellites and AI solutions to support mining, defence and agriculture industries, as well as explore applications in space. 
 
Apart from the two companies, MoUs were signed between India’s DCube and SABRN Health, Altdata, Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace and HEX20 as well as QL Space, and Chennai-based GalaxEye and QL Space
 
The various partnerships will be working towards a variety of goals, including space mineral exploration missions and development of technology for monitoring the health of astronauts.
 
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S Somanath said foreign participation in BSX and the Indian space industry has increased, which is very encouraging. “The opening up of the space sector has contributed largely to its growth on a large scale. 
 
The most exciting part of the space ecosystem is startups. There are hundreds of space startups in India today and they are working on various systems, which is promising,” he said..

India’s external debt grew by 8.2 percent to over 620 billion US dollar at the end of March 2022.
 
Finance Ministry's Department of Economic Affairs has released the 28th edition of the Status Report on India’s External Debt 2021-22.  According to it, India’s external debt was over 573 billion dollar at the end of March 2021.
 
Commercial borrowings, Non-resident Indians (NRIs) deposits, short-term trade credit and multilateral loans together accounted for 90 per cent of the total external debt. According to reports, the External debt as a ratio to Gross domestic product (GDP) fell marginally to 19.9 per cent as of March this year, from 21.2 per cent a year ago.
 
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, India's external debt continues to be sustainable and prudently managed. She said, the long-term debt constitutes the bulk, while short-term debt is basically incurred to finance imports enhancing the stability aspects of the total external debt..

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Tuesday(6th September 2022) approved the country’s first intra-nasal Covid-19 vaccine -- Bharat Biotech’s iNCOVACC -- for restricted emergency use in those aged above 18 years.

It’s only the second such vaccine in the world, after CanSino Biologics’ vaccine in China, to get regulatory approval. Around 100 mucosal (nose and mouth) Covid-19 vaccines are under development across the world.
 
iNCOVACC is a chimpanzee adenovirus vectored recombinant nasal vaccine that has been specifically formulated to allow intra-nasal delivery through nasal drops. The nasal delivery system has been designed and developed to be cost effective in low- and middle-income countries, the company said. The vaccine is stable at 2-8°C.
 
Union Health Minister "Mansukh Mandaviya" said the vaccine has been approved for “primary immunisation against Covid-19 in the 18+ age group for restricted use in emergency situation”..
