The bank has partnered with Amazon Pay to offer discounts on recharges, utility, and bill payments. Campaigns along with KMRL too will be organised to further promote the card among commuters. Cardholders will also get lounge access and discount on bus tickets, Sanjeev Moghe, president and head, cards and payments, Axis Bank, told the media here on Thursday(25th Aug 2022).

A total of 1.30 lakh smart cards have been issued so far, of which 16,000 are being used regularly by metro commuters.

The introduction of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tickets two months ago has helped improve the card’s patronage, he said, and hoped that the daily passenger patronage in the metro would cross the one lakh mark once its Thripunithura extension and Water Metro ferries were commissioned.

The Kochi-1 app has improved its rating to 3.90%, while efforts are on to enter into tie-ups with popular payment gateways so that commuters can purchase tickets through them as well, he added..

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India in the defence sector received a major boost as the Indian Navy received the first-ever completely made in India 30mm ammunition. The ammunition will be used in AK-630 guns, which is fitted on warships.

“Satyanarayan Nuwal, CMD of the Economic Explosives Limited, handed over the first consignment of the ammunition to the Navy’s Chief Vice Admiral SN Ghormade,” the Indian Navy said in a release.

Speaking on occasion, Vice Admiral Ghormade said, “This is a major achievement for the country that private industry has developed fully indigenous ammunition. It has been done in 12 months, and all components are indigenous.”

The Navy said that it was the first time that the services had placed an order on the Indian private industry to deliver complete gun ammunition and completed it within a record time of 12 months..

Dimapur Railway Station, in the heart of the commercial hub of the state, was inaugurated in 1903.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio flagged off the Donyi Polo Express from Shokhuvi Railway Station during the day.

The Donyi Polo Express ran daily between Guwahati in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh. The train service has now been extended till Shokhuvi, a few kilometers from Dimapur.

Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh will be directly connected by train service with the extension of Donyi Polo Express till Shokhuvi Railway Station.
