The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has decided to shut down the Blockchain and Crypto Assets Council (BACC). In a statement, IAMAI said it is dissolving the Blockchain and Crypto Assets Council (BACC), which the association created and nurtured for four years.

“The association was forced to take the decision in light of the fact that a resolution of the regulatory environment for the industry is still very uncertain, and that the association would like to utilise its limited resources for other emerging digital sectors, which make a more immediate and direct contribution to digital India, notably, deepening financial inclusion and promoting Central Bank issued Digital Currency [CBDC],” the statement said.

In a joint statement, Chair and Co-chair of the BACC, Ashish Singhal and  Sumit Gupta said, “Our stated belief as industry has always been to have sustainable dialogue with regulators and stakeholders and address concerns for progressive regulations.

Crypto experts say the nascent industry will lose a prominent policy advocacy arm with the dismantling of BACC by IAMAI.

A SpaceX Dragon resupply spacecraft has left for the International Space Station (ISS) carrying science experiments aiming to help carry out climate science research in space on 14 July 2022 at 8.44 pm (EDT). The Cargo Dragon spacecraft was launched the Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida and is transporting 5,800 pounds(2,630 kilograms)of science experiments, crew supplies, and other cargo.

The spacecraft is loaded with a number of experiments with one being the Earth Surface Mineral Dust Investigation (EMIT) that has been developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. It employs NASA imaging spectroscopy technology to measure the mineral composition of dust in Earth's arid regions. The mineral dust blown into the air can travel significant distances and affect Earth’s climate, weather, vegetation, and more.

The Dragon craft is expected to slowly catch up with the ISS and reach it Saturday morning (July 16) at around 11:20 a.m. EDT. After Dragon docks with the orbiting lab, astronauts will unload the capsule's payload, which includes fresh food and supplies, as well as scientific equipment for the ISS's dozens of active scientific investigations. .

Homegrown space startup, "Agnikul Cosmos", the country’s first private factory dedicated to building rocket engines in Chennai on Wednesday(13th July 2022), inaugurated by N Chandrasekaran, chairman, Tata Sons, and S Somanath, chairman of ISRO and secretary, department of space.

The company said that the facility will use additive manufacturing technology to build 3D printed rocket engines, and will be used to produce engines for its own in-house rockets.

Srinath Ravichandran, chief executive of Agnikul Cosmos, said that the facility presently has the capacity to build two rocket engines from scratch, every week. This will allow the factory to produce eight engines every month, and build the number of engines required to launch Agnibaan – its two-stage launch vehicle, expected to launch by the end of the year.

“Since companies and organisations looking to launch satellites no longer have access to Russian facilities, and launching aboard heavy rockets could be expensive, small orbital launch vehicles can help India win a large chunk of satellite launch orders in the near future," Ravichandran said.

The company said that it already has partners who are preparing small-sized satellites to be launched on the Agnibaan rockets, and the factory will address this demand.

Agnibaan is an ultra-light launch vehicle that is lighter than the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s upcoming small, light commercial rocket – the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). While the SSLV can carry payloads of around 300kg, Agnibaan will be able to carry payloads of up to 100kg to low Earth orbits (LEOs) of up to 700km above Earth..

Samsung said on Thursday(14th July 2022) it has developed a new graphics "Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DRAM)" chip with a faster speed and improved power efficiency.

The 24-gigabit Graphics Double Data Rate 6 (GDDR6) adopts third-generation, 10-nanometer technology and boasts a data processing speed that is over 30 per cent faster than existing products, the company said in a statement.

The new DRAM chip can process graphic images at a rate of up to 1.1 terabytes per second, which Samsung claims is the fastest in the world and equivalent to processing 275 full HD movies in a second.

Graphics DRAMs are widely used in high-powered 3D games, personal computers, notebooks or devices that play videos with a high resolution.

In the future, it is also expected to be used in high performance computing, electric cars and autonomous vehicles, reports Yonhap news agency.

As the new chip meets the JEDEC industry standards, artificial intelligence and graphics companies will likely adopt it easily, Samsung added.

The JEDEC Solid State Technology Association is a semiconductor organisation in charge of standardisation of chips.

Using the so-called dynamic voltage scaling technology, the GDDR6 DRAM also improves power efficiency more than 20 percent, Samsung said..
