Indian weightlifter Purnima Pandey won the gold medal in the +87kg women’s category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Friday(18th Dec 2021).
 
The 22-year-old Purnima Pandey became the first Indian woman from this edition to qualify directly for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
 
India concluded the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021 with 16 medals – 4 Gold, 7 Silver, and 5 Bronze, held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Bindyarani Devi was India’s only medallist at the World Weightlifting Championships 2021, that was also held parallelly at Tashkent.

This is the second time the surface-to-surface missile was tested this year after June.
 
The government said in a statement that various telemetry, radar, electro-optical stations and down range ships positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile trajectory and parameters.  The missile “followed text book trajectory meeting all mission objectives with high level of accuracy”, it said.
 
Agni Prime is a new generation advanced variant of the Agni class of missiles with range capability between 1,000 and 2,000km.

According to a statement issued by the central bank, PNB was found guilty of contravening provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, related to pledge of shares by it.
 
Investigations by RBI found that PNB had held shares in borrower companies, as pledgee, of an amount exceeding thirty per cent of paid-up share capital of those companies.
