Online food delivery platform Zomato on Friday announced the acquisition of Blinkit, which was earlier known as Grofers, in an all-stock deal of Rs 4,447 crore.
 
Zomato said it would acquire up to 33,018 equity shares of Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd from its shareholders for a total purchase consideration of Rs 4,447.48 crore at a price of Rs 13.45 lakh per equity share. The decision was taken at a board meeting today. “This acquisition is in line with our strategy of investing in the quick commerce business,”
 
Zomato said, adding that the transaction would be carried out through issuance and allotment of up to 62.85 crore fully paid-up equity shares of Zomato, having face value of Re 1 each at a price of Rs 70.76 per equity share. Zomato already holds one equity share and 3,248 preference shares, presently in the online quick commerce startup.
 
Zomato said it would also buy the warehousing and ancillary services business from Blinkit's parent company Grofers International for Rs 60.7 crore..

THE INDIGENOUSLY developed shipborne weapon system, Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM), was successfully flight tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy off the coast of Chandipur in Odisha on Friday(24th June 2022).
 
The VL-SRSAM system has been designed to strike at the high-speed airborne targets at the range of 40km to 50km and at an altitude of around 15km.
 
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy complimented the teams involved in the successful flight test.
 
DRDO officials have said its design is based on Astra missile which is a Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air missile. Two key features of the VL-SRSAM are cruciform wings and thrust vectoring..

China on Thursday(23rd June 2022) successfully launched three new remote sensing satellites from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwest China's Sichuan Province, official media reported.
 
The satellites were launched as the second batch of the Yaogan-35 family at 10:22 a.m. (local time) by a Long March-2D carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully.
 
The satellites will be mainly used to conduct science experiments, land resource surveys, yield estimation of agricultural products and disaster prevention and reduction, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
 
This launch marked the 424th mission for the Long March series carrier rockets..
