Indian Navy took the delivery of the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 'Vikrant' from Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in Kochi on Thursday(28th July 2022).
 
"Indian Navy has created maritime history today by taking delivery of the prestigious Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (AC) 'Vikrant from her builder Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi. Designed by the Indian Navy's in-house Directorate of Naval Design (DND) and built by CSL, a Public Sector Shipyard under the Ministry of Shipping (MoS), the carrier is christened after her illustrious predecessor, India's first Aircraft Carrier which played a vital role in the 1971 war. Coinciding with the celebrations to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', the reincarnation of Vikrant is a true testimony to the country's zeal and fervour in pursuing capability build up towards enhanced maritime security," said the Indian Navy.
 
The 262-meter-long carrier has a full displacement of close to 45,000 tonnes which is much larger and more advanced than her predecessor.
 
The ship is powered by four Gas Turbines totalling 88 MW power and has a maximum speed of 28 Knots. Built at an overall cost of close to ₹ 20,000 crores, the project has been progressed in three Phases of contract between MoD and CSL, concluded in May 2007, Dec 2014 and Oct 2019 respectively. The ship's keel was laid in Feb 2009, followed by launching in Aug 2013..

Those above the age of 17 can now apply in advance for getting enrolled in the voters’ list and need not wait to fulfil the pre-requisite criterion of attaining the age of 18 years on January 1 of a year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced Thursday(28th July 2022).
 
The electoral roll will be updated every quarter and eligible youngsters can be registered in the next quarter of the year in which they have attained the qualifying age of 18 years, according to the ECI.
 
The ECI, led by Chief Election Commissioner "Rajiv Kumar" and Election Commissioner "Anup Chandra Pandey", has directed the CEOs/EROs/AEROs of all states to work out tech-enabled solutions such that the youth are facilitated to file their advance applications with reference to three subsequent qualifying dates — April 1, July 1, and October 1 – besides January 1, the ECI statement said.
 
After getting registered, the youngsters will be issued an electoral photo identity card (EPIC), the ECI said..

British Prime Minister "Boris Johnson" on Tuesday(26th July 2022) presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Sir Winston Churchill Leadership Award, drawing comparisons between the two leaders in times of crises.

This MoU is in line with the government’s National Hydrogen Mission that aims to transform the country into a global green hydrogen hub, the company said. India is targeting to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen per annum by 2030
 
The energy major said that this MoU will contribute towards the mission of making Indi a green hydrogen hub. 
 
The MoU, valid for two years, was signed between ONGC Director Onshore Anirag Sharma and Greenko CEO and Managing Director Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty, in the presence of Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri. 
 
ONGC is not the first government-backed entity to enter the green hydrogen sector. In April this year, state-backed oil manufacturing company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), engineering and construction conglomerate L&T and renewable energy company ReNew announced the signing of a term sheet to form a joint venture company to develop green hydrogen business in India..

Singapore, the USA, and Mauritius are the top three sources of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) equity inflows to India, and these countries together accounted for around 61 per cent of the total overseas investment in the country during the financial year 2021-22, according to government data released on Thursday.
 
Singapore is the biggest source of FDI equity inflow into India, accounting for 27.01 per cent of the total inflow. With 17.94 per cent of the total FDI equity inflow, United States of America is the second biggest source.
 
The top 5 sectors receiving the highest FDI Equity Inflow during FY 2021-22 are Computer Software & Hardware (24.60 per cent), Services Sector (Finance, Banking, Insurance, Non Fin/Business, Outsourcing, R&D, Courier, Tech. Testing and Analysis, Other) (12.13 per cent), Automobile Industry (11.89 per cent), Trading 7.72 per cent and Construction (Infrastructure) Activities (5.52 per cent).
 
* The top 5 States receiving the highest FDI Equity Inflow during FY 2021-22 are Karnataka (37.55 per cent), Maharashtra (26.26 per cent), Delhi (13.93 per cent), Tamil Nadu (5.10 per cent) and Haryana (4.76 per cent).
 
During FY 2021-22 FDI has been reported from 101 countries, whereas, it was reported from 97 countries during the previous FY 2020-21..

The ICC awarded three new countries membership status on Tuesday(26 July 2022) during the ongoing ICC Annual Conference in Birmingham.
