The Indian Army’s contingent has departed today for the 5th edition of India-Oman Joint Military ExerciseAL NAJAH” in Salalah, Oman.

The Defence Ministry said that the Indian Army contingent is comprising of 60 personnel and is being represented by a battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment.

While the Royal Army of Oman contingent also comprises 60 personnel, which will be represented by the troops of the Frontier Force.

The Ministry said that the aim of the joint exercise is to enhance the joint military capability of both sides to undertake counterterrorism operations. The exercise will focus on operations in the desert environment.

The Exercise AL NAJAH has been held biennially since 2015, alternating between India and Oman.

Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh Alias Lalan Singh, launched (12th Sep 2024) the "Rangeen Machhli" mobile app at ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar. Developed by ICAR-CIFA with support from the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the app is designed to meet the growing needs of the ornamental fisheries sector, providing crucial knowledge resources for hobbyists, aquarium shop owners, and fish farmers. The event was attended by Shri George Kurian, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, along with other senior officials.

During his address, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh highlighted the increasing importance of the ornamental fisheries sector, stating that the Ministry is placing a strong emphasis on its development, recognizing the sector’s potential for generating employment and contributing to the economy. He also stated that aquarium hobby has to be promoted in a bigger way in the country.

The "Rangeen Machhli" app provides multilingual information on popular ornamental fish species in eight Indian languages, making it accessible to a wide audience. Whether hobbyists are seeking guidance on fish care or farmers looking to diversify their breeds, the app offers comprehensive details on care, breeding, and maintenance practices.

One of its key features is the "Find Aquarium Shops" tool, which allows users to locate nearby aquarium shops through a dynamic directory updated by shop owners, promoting local businesses and connecting users with reliable sources for ornamental fish and aquarium-related products. In addition, the app includes educational modules for both newcomers and professionals in the ornamental fish industry. The "Basics of Aquarium Care" module covers essential topics such as types of aquariums, fishes, water filtration, lighting, feeding, day to day maintenance, while the "Ornamental Aquaculture" module focuses on breeding, rearing of different ornamental fish..

On 14th September 2024, during the Hindi Diwas Celebrations and All India Official Language Conference organized on the occasion of Hindi Diwas at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the Secretary, Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Mr. V. Srinivas ji was awarded the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar by the Hon’ble Home Minister and Cooperation Minister, Shri Amit Shah.

This award has been given for the best performance in Official Language Hindi, to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, in the category of Ministries / Departments with less than 300 personnel, by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs for the year 2023-24.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances is committed to the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Union and as a result of these efforts, the use of the Official Language in the Department is steadily increasing. The Department monitors the proper implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Union in its sections and its attached offices/autonomous bodies. The Department is also responsible for translating from English to Hindi various materials received from various sections of the Department, such as General Orders, Rules, Standard Forms, Notifications, Resolution, Cabinet Notes, D.O. Letters issued by senior officers, administrative and other reports specified in Section 3(3) of the Official Languages ??Act, 1963 and Press Releases, etc. During the year 2023-24, the Department has made several efforts and achieved milestones to promote the widespread use of Official Language Hindi.

Hindi Advisory Committee :

There is a joint Hindi Advisory Committee of DARPG, DoPT and DoP&PW to monitor the implementation of Official Language Policy in the Ministry. Its meetings are being held in a timely manner under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Minister of State for Personnel.

Official Language Implementation Committee :

Official Language Implementation Committee has been constituted in the Department under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. Head of the attached office of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and officers of the level of Under Secretary and above in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances are its members. Meetings of the Committee were successfully held every quarter in the Department.

In the meeting, the implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Union in respect of the Department and its attached offices/autonomous bodies was duly reviewed and various measures for promoting the use of Hindi were considered..
