National Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on 21st October, across India.
 
* On 21st October 1959, 20 Indian soldiers were attacked by the Chinese troops in Ladakh, while the altercation between the troops claimed the lives of ten policemen. Seven other troops who were imprisoned managed to escape from the Chinese troops.
