Ministry of Culture has set up seven Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) with headquarters at Patiala, Nagpur, Udaipur, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Dimapur and Thanjavur.

These centers aim to conserve and develop art, culture and crafts across the country. The government provides regular annual grant-in-aid for conducting various activities and programmes to ZCCs. However, no State and Union Territory wise funds are released by the Ministry for the purpose.
 
This information was given by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region G. Kishan Reddy while replying to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The Minister said, ZCCs organize a minimum 42 Regional Festivals for promotion of art and culture every year as per their programme calendar. He said, these centers also implement a number of schemes for preservation and promotion of various folk arts and culture of the country. .

President of Sri Sarada Math and Ramkrishna Sarada Mission "Pravrajika Bhaktiprana" died of age-related ailments here on Sunday(11th Dec 2022) night. She was 102.
 
* She was suffering from old age-related ailments for a long time and was undergoing treatment at the Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan where she was admitted with high fever on December 5, an official said.
 
* Since Saturday(10th Dec 2022), her condition deteriorated following which she was put on a ventilator, the official said, adding that she breathed her last at around 11:24 pm on Sunday(11th Dec 2022).
 
* Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister expressed grief over the death of Pravrajika Bhaktiprana .

The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Cabinet on Monday(12th Dec 2022) approved recruitment of 8,400 personnel in Punjab Police in the next four years.
 
* These include 1,200 Sub Inspector and 7,200 constable posts, according to a statement issued by the state government.
 
* Elaborating on this, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the Cabinet has approved recruitment of 1800 Constables and 300 Sub Inspectors every year for the coming four years to overcome the scarcity of employees in wake of their superannuation in next years.
 
* Around 2.5 lakh applications are expected every year for 2,100 posts, he added.
 
* Advertisement for Punjab Police recruitment exam will be issued in January, written exam will be held in May-June, physical Test will be held in September and result will be announced in November every year, the government statement said.
 
* The Punjab cabinet has also approved filling up 710 vacant posts of Revenue Patwaris in the department. “This will help in maintaining and updating the new record as well as maintaining old revenue records to facilitate the general public in availing these services in a time bound manner,” reads the government statement..

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the sixth(6th) Vande Bharat Express on Sunday(11th Dec 2022) that will run between Maharashtra’s Nagpur and Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur.

9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) was inaugurated 8th Dec 2022 at Panaji, Goa in the presence of Union Minister of State for Tourism and Shipping, Ports and Waterways Shripad Naik, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the valedictory function of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress. He also inaugurated 11th Dec 2022 three National Ayush Institutes.

The three institutes - All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad and National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Delhi - will further strengthen research and international collaborations and will also facilitate affordable Ayush services for people. Developed at a total cost of about Rs 970 crores, these institutes will increase the intake of students by around 400 along with the addition of about 500 hospital beds.
 
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister welcomed all the delegates of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress from around the globe to the beautiful land of Goa and congratulated everyone for the successes of the World Ayurveda Congress.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the World Ayurveda Congress is being organised when the journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal is underway. The Prime Minister said that one of the key resolutions of the Amrit Kaal is to ensure global welfare through India’s scientific, knowledge and cultural experience and Ayurveda is a strong and effective medium for that.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister "MK Stalin" launched the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission on Friday(9th Dec 2022) to protect the natural resources in the state besides restoring them on a long-term basis.
 
The state will achieve carbon neutrality much ahead of 2070 target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said while launching the pioneering initiative, which takes the climate agenda on priority with district missions and climate officers already in place in the state.
 
The state is the first to launch its own Climate Change Mission to make Tamil Nadu a climate-smart state.
 
"Let the Dravidian model guide (the nation) not only in social justice but also in ecological justice," Stalin said in a tweet, after launching the mission at the TN Climate Summit 2022.
 
During the budget for 2021-2022, the state government announced the launch of the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission for an outlay of Rs 500 crore to undertake climate change management and mitigation activities. Following this, the government established India's first 'Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company(TNGCC) -- a special purpose vehicle – to implement three major nature conservation projects namely Green Tamil Nadu Mission, Tamil Nadu Wetlands and Tamil Nadu Climate Change..
