Luis Echeverria Alvarez, the former president of Mexico who served from 1970 to 1976, died on Friday at the age of 100, his son Benito Echeverria told Xinhua on Saturday(9th July 2022).
 
Echeverria died at his home in Cuernavaca, the capital city of Morelos state located in south central Mexico, according to his son.
 
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador sent via Twitter his “respectful condolences” to the former leader’s family and friends.
 
Echeverria, a career lawyer and member of Mexico’s Institutional Revolutionary Party, made Mexico’s international relations a priority and was known, among other things, for promoting the Charter of Economic Rights and Duties of States at the United Nations in 1972.
 
He also initiated the establishment of diplomatic relations with China in February 1972..

Eminent archaeologist, historian and former Director-General of the Bangladesh National Museum "Dr. Enamul Haque" passed away in Dhaka 10th July 2022. He was 85. Dr. Enamul Haque was conferred with Padma Shri for the year 2020 for his work on Bengal’s Iconography and terracotta art.
 
Dr. Enamul Haque was instrumental in setting up the Bangladesh National Museum. He was appointed its Director in 1973 and served as its Director-General between 1983-91. Dr Haque is credited with finding and protecting several invaluable sculptures from various archaeological sites in Bangladesh.
 
During his illustrious career, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2016 and the highest civilian award of Bangladesh Swadhinta Padak in 2020..

A rail network will soon be a member of the world’s largest airline alliance when German national railway company, Deutsche Bahn, boards Star Alliance from August 1, 2022.
 
German mega carrier Lufthansa has for years been issuing multi-modal boarding cards with cities close to busy airports in the country like Frankfurt being served by trains.
 
“As of August 1, Deutsche Bahn (DB) will be the world's first Intermodal Partner of Star Alliance. With this, DB and the aviation industry are sending another strong signal for the environment-friendly evolution of the travel industry.

Under the new cooperation, DB customers and passengers of Star Alliance member airlines will be able to start or end their journey comfortably on the environment-friendly train. Germany is the first market and DB is the world's first partner in the new Star Alliance initiative,” the Alliance said in a statement..

The Chhattisgarh Government has received an in-principle nod from the Centre to go ahead with a $300 million (approximately ₹2,100 crore) school education project the State is negotiating with the World Bank.
 
Confirming this, Principal Secretary (Planning, Economics and Statistics, Implementation of 20pts. Programme, Science and Technology), Alok Shukla said on Thursday(7th July 2022) that the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Union Finance Ministry had given an in-principle approval for the project.

“A team of the World Bank is visiting Chhattisgarh later this month for the first stage of discussion,” Mr. Shukla added.

Loan tenure : 5 years, the state government has to payback this amount over a period of 20 years.
