Former Punjab Director General of Police DGP Dinkar Gupta was on Thursday(23rd June 2022) appointed as the new Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), an anti-terror probe agency formed after the 26/11 attack in Mumbai.

According to an official order issued by the Personnel Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared the name of Dinkar Gupta, a 1987-batch India Police Service (IPS) officer from Punjab, for the top NIA post.
 
According to the order, Dinkar Gupta will hold the post of NIA chief till March 31, 2024, that is the date of his retirement or till further orders, whichever comes earlier.
 
Having a Master's degree in police administration, Former Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta was on Thursday(23rd June 2022) appointed as the new Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), an anti-terror probe agency formed after the 26/11 attack in Mumbai.
 
He has also held the post of Director General of Police, Intelligence, Punjab, which involved the direct supervision of Punjab State Intelligence Wing, State Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Organized Crime Control Unit (OCCU)..

US-based technology major Oracle’s cloud services platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has launched ‘OCI dedicated region’ for the India market to offer public cloud services to customers on their premises.
 
The new offering will help customers meet latency, data residency, and data sovereignty requirements that are key to many IT modernisation efforts. It will also allow Oracle to offer customers nearly 100 services within their premises, which were earlier available only to public cloud consumers.
 
“The new OCI Dedicated Region requires 60%-75% less data centre space and power on average, with a significantly lower entry price of around $1 million a year for a typical customer," Kapil Makhija, Vice-President -Technology Cloud, Oracle India.

A coalition of scientists formed against the Covid-19 threat has declared the Monkeypox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of Global Concern.
 
This comes days after the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee has been convened due to the spread of the Monkeypox virus to 32 non-endemic countries.
 
According to news agency ANI, the experts will meet on June 23 to assess whether the continuing outbreak represents a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, the highest level of global alert, which currently applies only to the COVID-19 pandemic and polio.
 
This designation of Monkeypox as a public emergency by the World Health Network (WHN) indicates that this outbreak is not limited to a single country or region and should be addressed by immediate actions to prevent community transmission, reported news agency ANI.
 
"The World Health Network declares the monkeypox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of Global Concern, by which it indicates that this outbreak is not limited to a single country or region and should be addressed by immediate actions taken wherever community transmission is taking place in order to ensure that the least effort is needed and the smallest impact is suffered due to this outbreak," the World Health Network said.
 
The growth of Monkeypox in 58 countries through local community transmission around the world, with 3,417 confirmed Monkeypox cases reported across 58 countries, and the rate of growth of cases increasing week by week across multiple continents..
