India and the US(United States) on Wednesday(12th Jan 2022) reviewed the ongoing cooperation in counterterrorism, Cyber Security and a host of other issues at a Homeland Security Dialogue attended by top officials of both the countries.
 
During the meeting, held in virtual mode, the officials from the two countries also identified further steps that can be taken to explore opportunities and synergies in advancing security cooperation, an official statement said.
 
The meeting discussed how to secure critical infrastructure and global supply chains, maritime security, aviation security, customs enforcement and trade security, among other issues..

India's oldest sloth bear, fondly named "Gulabo", died at the age of 40 at the Van Vihar National Park and Zoo in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh an official said on Tuesday(11th Jan 2022).
 
The female sloth bear, who was rescued from a Madaari or street performer in May 2006 at the age of 25 years, died on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday after attaining the age of 40, an official statement said.
 
Gulabo was one of the star attractions in the park. She was the oldest sloth bear of the country, it added.
 
Gulabo was cremated by staffers of the Park as per the norms, the statement said.

The Supreme Court has appointed a 5-member committee to probe the alleged breach in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Punjab earlier this month.
 
The Supreme Court announced the formation of the 5-member committee after staying all existing inquiries into the issue.
 
It said Justice Indu Malhotra will head the committee which will investigate the alleged lapses in PM Modi's security.
 
"A registrar general of the Punjab and Haryana High Court will form the committee which will look into PM Modi's security breach. The committee will also recommend further action to prevent similar incidents," the Supreme Court bench said on Wednesday(12th Jan 2022).

India has improved its position by seven places to rank at 83rd place among 111 countries in the latest Henley Passport Index, released for Q1 of 2022. India ranked at 90th spot among 116 countries in Q4 of 2021 in October. 
 
The Indian passport has visa-free access to 60 destinations worldwide in Q1 2022, as compared to 58 destinations in Q4 of 2021. Oman and Armenia are the latest destinations where Indian passport holders can visit without obtaining a visa.
