Veteran theatre director-actor Aamir Raza Husain, known for his larger-than-life outdoor stage productions, died here at the age of 66. Husain was suffering from a heart-related ailment and passed away on Saturday (3rd June 2023).

* Hussain was known for his large outdoor stage productions such as "The Fifty Day War" based on the Kargil War and "The Legend of Ram".

* He was also the Creative Director of the Stagedoor Theatre company, established in 1974, which has presented over 91 productions and more than 1,100 performances

* The actor was known for his unforgettable stage plays like ‘The Fifty Day War’ (2000) and ‘The Legend of Ram’. He is survived by his wife, muse, and creative partner, Virat Talwar.

* Aamir Raza Hussain was honoured with the Padma Shri by the government for his contribution to theatre.

* Aamir Raj has acted in super hit movies ‘Baahubali’ and  ‘RRR’. He will also be seen in the movie ‘Adipurush’ which will be released on 16th June 2023.

Tata Group signed an agreement with the Gujarat state government to set up a giga-factory for manufacturing lithium-ion cells, with an estimated initial investment of around 130 billion rupees ($1.6 billion).

* A giga-factory of this kind will be operational in Gujarat for the production of the first-ever lithium-ion cells in India. This plant will have an estimated initial investment of around Rs.13,000 crore and will have a production capacity of 20 GWh.

* It will generate direct and indirect employment for more than 13,000 people.

* The state government is committed to increasing carbon-free, energy-efficient, and clean energy production by boosting the production of electric vehicles and reducing carbon emissions.

* An MoU has been concluded between the Government of Gujarat and the Tata Group in Gandhinagar. This MOU is an outcome of the newly formulated Electronics Policy.

* The CEO of Tata Group’s subsidiary company, Tata Agaratas Energy Storage Solutions Private Limited, and the Secretary of Science and Technology of the Government of Gujarat, Mr. Vijay Nehra signed and exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of the Chief Minister.

* “Gujarat’s remarkable progress in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of net zero carbon emissions includes a commitment to 100 percent electric vehicle adoption and a significant reduction of 50 percent in carbon emissions by 2030," according to a state government document posted on its website.

* In this context, the usage of EVs will increase the dependence on lithium-ion batteries. With the establishment of Tata Group’s plant, Gujarat will become a leading state in lithium-ion cell manufacturing and will also receive assistance in setting up a battery manufacturing eco-system in the state.

* Chief Principal Secretary to the CM Shri K. Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi, and senior officials from the Tata Group were present during the MoU signing..

India is set to remain the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) largest export destination by 2030, according to a new report by Standard Chartered.

* "Future of Trade : New opportunities in high-growth corridors", forecasts that the UAE's exports will reach around  USD 543 billion by 2030, showcasing a robust annual growth rate of 5.5%.
 
* The report also highlights that trade corridors anchored in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East are expected to outpace the global trade growth rate by almost four percentage points, propelling the combined trade volume in these regions to an astounding  USD14.4 trillion, accounting for 44 percent of global trade by 2030.
 
* "India is set to remain the UAE's largest export destination by 2030, while exports to Turkiye, Vietnam and Singapore are among the fastest growing," the report said.The report attributed the UAE's strong export growth to a number of factors, including its strategic location, its well-developed infrastructure, and its business-friendly environment.

* "The UAE is a major trade hub in the region and has a strong track record of attracting foreign investment," the report said. "The country's government is also committed to promoting trade and investment, which will further support its export growth."
 
* The report also noted that the UAE is taking steps to diversify its economy away from oil, which will help to further boost its exports.

* The MoU envisages the two organizations to collaborate through setting up of floating and ground mounted Solar Projects in the Rihand reservoir, other water bodies and any available vacant land, development of solar PV Project dedicated for solarization of Ayodhya city and setting up of Renewable energy Parks and Projects wherever land is made available. 
 
* NGEL and UPRVUNL shall jointly work for formation of Joint Venture Company (JVC) to meet the Renewable Generation Obligation, Flexibility in Generation and Scheduling of Thermal/Hydro Power Stations through bundling with Renewable Energy and Energy Storage.
 
* NTPC is India’s largest Power Utility, with a total installed capacity of about 72 GW (including JVs and subsidiaries). As part of increasing its renewable energy portfolio, a fully owned subsidiary “NTPC Green Energy Limited” (NGEL) has been carved out which shall take up Renewable Energy Parks and Projects including development in the areas of Green Hydrogen, Energy Storage Technologies and Round the Clock RE Power.
 
* UPRVUNL was constituted to set up and operate Power-generating stations in the state of Uttar Pradesh. At present UPRVUNL is having four Thermal Power Stations within Uttar Pradesh with an installed capacity of 5820 MW and one Thermal Power Station with installed capacity of 1320 MW under JV with NTPC.
 
* UPRVUNL is in the process of adding further 3300 MW capacity with super critical technology on its own and another 1980 MW in Joint Venture with CPSEs. At present, UPRVUNL is looking to diversify into Renewable Energy and Energy Storage sectors..
